  • A woman walks on a sea bridge in Weston-super-Mare, England. The sea is calm, creating a mirror effect that makes it seem she is walking on a bridge suspended in the sky. But the seagull gives it away.

  • The High Trestle Trail is a 25 mile long bike path in Iowa, and it includes the High Trestle Bridge, of course. This used to be an active railroad bridge, but the rails have been moved and the bridge is now a biking and walking bridge. The trail is famous for it's 13-story and 1/2 mile long bridge over the Des Moines River, located between Madrid and Woodward in Boone County. At each end of the ½ mile long bridge are four 42’ tall artistic towers. The dark bands represent geologic coal veins found in area limestone deposits. There are 41 steel “frames” over the bridge represent support cribs within an historic coal mine, which light up blue in the evening. It's a great place for photos. This was taken during a warmer evening last winter. During the summer the bridge is more crowded and it's harder to get a shot like this.

  • Pregnant women come to the clinic 1-3 weeks before their due date. The problem is that the clinic cannot feed them, so families must make the walk to the clinic each day with food. When this doesn't happen it is not uncommon for the women to walk into the main village area and beg for food. All pregnant women are tested for HIV, and antenatal consultation rates are good.
